Entrance to remodeled home on The San Juan Islands

San Juan Island

This turn of the century log cabin home sits on a small island across from Roche Harbor, San Juan Island, WA.  The project was a restoration of the original structure, with an addition of a mudroom, laundry room and main floor bath.  Dormers and a bathroom were added to the two upstairs bedrooms.  All systems had to be updated while still maintaining the charm and simplicity of the original log structure.

The client wanted a soothing and serene palette layered with natural textures and materials.  Log walls were all painted white, wide plank floors installed in a warm white washed walnut and fir countertops with iron and fir open shelves.  Furnishings are rustic with antique rugs and the client’s collection of Native American art with natural objects found on the island layered throughout.
